Communication and Presentation Through Science
Is there a better way to learn than to teach? And how special is it to learn from members of your own community, and to imagine yourself following in their footsteps?
CAPTS is "near-peer" program where high school students learn science, communication presentation and teaching skills and then put their newfound knowledge to work by teaching Science Labs to K-5 classrooms. The "Science Captains", aka the high school students serve as role models and leaders for younger students in their communities.

CAPTS: Stage 2*
*Stage 2 is still in the implentation stage but it is going to be amazing!
After completing the first stage of the CAPTS program, our Science Captains are encouraged to continue engaging in science leadership activities. Science Captains are invited back to serve as teaching assistants in the course the following year and to design and implement community science activities.
